Course chiefs eye break in weather

FFOS Las bosses will be hoping for a break in the rain so it can end the year with a bang.

Yesterday's meeting at the Carmarthenshire track was called off at the start of the week because of a waterlogged track.

That leaves Ffos Las with just one more fixture in 2025, its Christmas Party Raceday on Thursday, December 18.

That is traditionally one of its best-attended meetings of the year.

Temporary general manager Steph Geer said: "Hopefully the weather will hold out for us.

"It is a really strong day for us and a lot of hospitality boxes are sold out."

Heavy rain forced yesterday's abandonment. Ffos Las was hit by around 18mm of rain in the early hours of Monday morning, prompting an early inspection. And the surface was deemed unfit for racing with standing water on the track.

Clerk of the course Tracey O’Meara told the Racing Post "There was an amber weather warning but we were assured that it was more for the higher ground as opposed to us, but we got hit by it too.

"There was no chance for things to improve."
