Ian Watson believes the work ethic shown by his South Shields squad has given them an 'unbelievable foundation' to build on over the coming weeks and months.

The Mariners head into a hectic spell of the season sat at the top of the National League North season after winning six and drawing two of their opening eight league games of the season. Progress was also made in the FA Cup on Saturday as Watson’s men came from a goal down to see off Northern Premier League club Guiseley to secure a place in today’s third qualifying round draw.
