Scottish Daily Express
|April 12, 2025
THE story of a heroic seaman who died on the Titanic while trying to escape loan sharks can be revealed 113 years later.
Erik Lind enjoyed a noble career in the navy during which he saved countless lives.
His bravery included helping hundreds of people by evacuating them from Martinique after a volcano erupted on the island in 1902.
Erik left the navy, married an American woman and became a successful businessman before returning to his native Sweden in 1909. He ran into financial trouble and took loans out from dubious moneylenders.
