'Extra appendage is identified'
A HISTORIAN claims to have discovered an extra penis on the Bayeux Tapestry which has not been spotted until now nearly 1,000 years after the Battle of Hastings was depicted in the 230ft artwork.
Medieval scholar Dr Christopher Monk reckons a protuberance appearing from under the tunic of a running man, which was previously thought to be a scabbard for his sword, is in fact his manhood.
It flies in the face of a previous tally by Oxford professor George Garnett, who seven years ago identified 93 depictions of male genitalia - four on naked men, one on a corpse and 88 on horses, including the one ridden by William the Conqueror.
