Bigger home prices rising the fastest, study reveals

SUPER-sized homes have proved the greatest house investment in the last decade — rising on average by £100,000 in the last five years alone, new research has shown.

In Scotland, detached properties have soared in value by almost £1,500 per month over the last 12 months.

Statistics from the Halifax shows that detached houses made the greatest profit of any house type since 2015, especially during the pandemic which fuelled a national “race for space”.

A study covering the last decade shows that bigger homes went up in price faster in the last five years, compared to the period between 2015 and 2020.

The comparable percentage increases were 29.6% between 2020 and now and just 23.7% in the preceding five years.

Other house types like flats, semi-detached and terraced homes grew in popularity as interest rates began to climb following the pandemic.
