NORTH Sea oil and gas workers face a nightmare before Christmas as new job losses were announced, just days after the UK Government refused to axe the windfall tax.

The UK's largest oil and gas producer - Harbour Energy - is planning to cut about 100 offshore roles. It has already reduced its onshore workforce by about 600 since 2023.

Harbour Energy said the decision was due to lower anticipated production and investment in the UK sector. It also criticised the Energy Profits Levy (EPL), which will remain in place until 2030.
