There were mixed feelings for Pompey academy coach Sam Hudson after his side's 5-2 FA Youth Cup loss at Newcastle.

The Pompey youngsters endured a poor start on a freezing cold night in the north east as their hosts raced into a two-goal lead inside the opening seven minutes thanks to a double from winger Michael Mills.

However, striker Tayo Singerr added to his already glowing reputation when he halved the deficit after 19 minutes with a cool finish.
