Andru was in die laerskool by Oosskool verkies tot hoofseun en het vanjaar voorgestap as hoofseun by Afrikaans Hoër Seunsskool in Pretoria. Dit is hier waar hy, terwyl hy in die gr. 8-koshuis gewoon het, die gr. 8-leerder leer ken het.
“Wanneer mense vra waarom ek hierdie projek aanpak, is my teenvraag ‘waarom nie?’. Die situasie het my erg geraak en geïnspireer om tot dade oor te gaan.”
Andru het besluit om die 2 500km tog van Polokwane met 'n roete tot in die Kaap op 'n fiets aan te pak om bewusmaking regdeur die land te skep. Waar sy eweknieë in hierdie tyd met matriekvakansie gaan, is hy gereed om te sweet.
