Young angler reels in top fly-fishing title

Proud family Rory Stewart with his father Neil

Rory Stewart got into fly-fishing when he was just eight years old after a visit to Pinewood Trout Fishery in Kilmacolm.

The Bridge of Weir youngster says he “loved it so much” and began to spend “all of his free time” there - forming a close bond with owner and mentor Dougie Bryson - who is said to have taught Rory everything he knows.

Like any other youngster, Rory is into his football and golf but fly-fishing always remained his number one passion.

Speaking to our sister title, Glasgow Live, he said: “Fly-fishing has been my number one passion since I was eight years old.

“The challenge and excitement of landing a fish got me hooked, pardon the pun.”
