...and Renfrew gaffer reckoned they took two of them to inch forward in cup clash

- Mike Hydes & Colin Paterson

Renfrew made it through to the last 32 of the South Challenge Cup after an open encounter at McKenna Park.

The squad was rotated for this third-round tie on Saturday with manager Jim Quigley providing game time for keeper Jack Donohoe while there were also starting slots for James Ferguson and Kenzie McCrystal.

Afterwards, the gaffer summed up his thoughts on getting the job done and commented: "It was a game of many chances, and we did enough to take two of them to get through.

"It was good to get game time for some of the players in the squad who don't always feature.

"And we are so pleased to make it through to the next round as Kirkcaldy pushed us to the end."

After early pressure, 'Frew took a seventh-minute lead when McCrystal and Connor Cameron combined to set up Aiden Malcolm to stroke home.
