Prison tutor, 42, dies after being hit by car as he walked to work

A “MUCH-LOVED” father and husband died in a crash while walking to work.

Phil Tetley, who worked at Ranby Prison, was hit by a car while crossing Straight Mile to get to work just before 8am on Monday.

Despite the efforts of members of the public and emergency services, the 42-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

Friend David Swan paid tribute to the “caring and amazing” father.

Mr Swan, 34, said: “Phil was such an amazing man. He always put people before himself. He was so caring and was an amazing dad and husband.

“He'd only been married to his wife for two years and they had recently celebrated their anniversary in November.
