Councils objecting to planned increase in waste recycling

OPERATOR WANTS TO MORE THAN DOUBLE THE AMOUNT OF MATERIAL USED AT SITE

A RURAL recycling site could start accepting an extra 150,000 tonnes of waste each year - but more lorries and work have upset residents.

Nottinghamshire County Council’s planning and rights of way committee meets tomorrow to discuss whether to approve extra waste going through Bunny Materials Recycling Facility, to the west of the A60 Loughborough Road, near Bunny Hill Top.

Applicant and site operator Johnson Aggregates wants to increase waste going through the site from 100,000 tonnes to 250,000 tonnes per year. The site - with a 100,000tonne limit - was first granted permission by Rushcliffe Borough Council in 1994.
