PH may be cyclone-free until end of July; but 'habagat' rains to persist

No tropical cyclone may enter or form within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) in the coming days, but the southwest monsoon or "habagat" will continue to bring rains, particularly over the western sections of Luzon, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Sunday, July 27.
PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina said there is currently no low-pressure area within the PAR following the passage of three tropical cyclones.
The country experienced three cyclones between July 16 and 26: Tropical Storm Crising (international name: Wipha), Tropical Storm Dante (Francisco), and Typhoon Emong (Co-may).
