Rowley's praise as battling Devils take points in Leigh clash

PAUL Rowley hailed his battling players after Salford opened their Betfred Super League campaign with a hard-fought 20-10 win at promoted Leigh.
A three-try burst from Kallum Watkins, Andy Ackers and former home favourite Ryan Brierley either side of the interval proved decisive for the Red Devils at a raucous Leigh Sports Village.
Leigh had started well with a Josh Charnley score and fought back with a penalty try during a period when Salford were reduced to 12 men, but the visitors held on.
