City had a few chances to snatch a winner but had to settle for a draw that keeps them ahead of their Merseyside rivals, although it put an end to an extraordinary run of 23 straight wins at the Etihad in 2023.

On the back of a 4-4 draw at Stamford Bridge, the Blues are winless in two but Guardiola was far more interested in both the overall performance of his players and the improvements he saw from the Chelsea game.
