'We will not stay quiet over Jude'

THE parents of a two-year-old who died after an incident at nursery said “Jude deserves so much better than this” after they were told their son’s death was the result of an “honest mistake” during a busy lunchtime.

On the morning of January 14 this year, “smiley” Jude Gerrard had gone to nursery as normal.

But tragedy struck at lunchtime, with Jude losing his “young, vibrant and treasured life”. Emergency services were called at about 12.35pm after Jude suffered a fatal medical episode at Early Learners Day Nursery on Hawthorne Road in Bootle. He was taken by paramedics to hospital, where he died.

As the ECHO reported yesterday, no further action is to be taken by police over Jude's death.

Posting on Instagram jointly with Jude’s dad Charlie, his grieving mum Rebekah said her son’s death had been put down by police to “an honest mistake during a busy lunchtime”.

She said the little boy had been given a dairy yoghurt, to which he was allergic, and “lost his life as a result of this”.
