LIVERPOOL continued the impressive start to their UEFA Youth League campaign by beating Eintracht Frankfurt in a nine-goal thriller in Germany yesterday afternoon.

Trent Kone-Doherty scored twice while an own goal, Josh Sonni-Lambie and substitute Oliver O'Connor all found the target as the Reds' under-19 side won 5-4 at the Sportpark Dreieich.

Rob Page’s side now have seven points from nine at the halfway point of the league stage to leave themselves in a strong position to finish inside the top 22 and secure progress to the knockout stages. And one player in particular caught the eye as Liverpool indicated their intent as once again taking this competition seriously.

Morrison delivers

There was a moment early on in the first half when the shout of “run at him!” could be heard booming from the Liverpool bench.

The player being given the emphatic instruction was Kieran Morrison, who duly sailed beyond Frankfurt left-back Nilo Neuendorf towards the byline and drove in a low cross that was bundled into his own net by the unlucky Derek Boakye Osei.

Absent from the win in Galatasaray last time out in this competition, Morrison was clearly keen to make up for lost time.
