ANDY CROSBY admits Tranmere Rovers are ‘underdogs’ but are ready to do all that they can against Stockport County to guarantee a spot in the hat for Monday night's FA Cup second round draw.

The magic of England’s most famous cup competition returns to Prenton Park today at 3pm where Rovers will be looking to progress past the first round for the first time since 2021.

The Super Whites have experienced some remarkable results in years gone by, including 2001's 3-0 victory over Everton at Goodison Park and Crosby believes his players can draw inspiration from years gone by despite a 40-place gap between them and this weekend's opponents.

“We are the underdog, of course we are - we're a League Two team and they are top of League One. But as we had shown to the players on Thursday when we showed clips of Tranmere beating some big Premier League clubs home and away. So there are some brilliant memories for this football club in this competition, and we are only one league apart - when the game starts tomorrow, we will try and cover up that one league gap and do everything that we possibly can to play well.”

Stockport are in flying form at the minute and show zero signs of slowing down under the guidance of former Tranmere defensive duo Dave Challinor and Clint Hill who recorded exactly 140 appearances each for the club.
