WOMAN DESCRIBES 'HORRIFIC' BACK-SEAT STABBING

- By JAMIE GREER, EMILY CARUBIA

A WOMAN has spoken of the terrifying moment a man was stabbed in the back seat of her car as she drove through a Merseyside town.

The woman was in the vehicle with her elderly mum on Park Road South, heading towards Claughton Road near Birkenhead Park, when she saw a young man in the road.

After realising he was being chased by two people on a moped, she ushered him to get in the back of her car.

The victim jumped into the back seat - but so did his attacker, who started stabbing him in the leg.

The woman put her foot on the accelerator, which managed to shake the attacker off the car.

The victim was later taken to hospital. Merseyside Police confirmed a 17 year-old has been arrested in connection with the incident.

The woman, who asked to remain anonymous, told the ECHO: "It was just a horrific attack for me and my mum to witness.

"I was driving along the road when I saw this young lad was walking up the middle of the road, trying car handles, screaming. I thought that maybe he was on drugs.

"I checked to see whether the car door was locked. Then I saw a moped with two people on it behind him.

"The lad was shouting, they're going to kill me.

"I started shouting for the lad to get in the car. As he was running towards my car, one of the lads got off the bike.
