£2.1m tax dodger fined over £1m by HMRC

LIST DETAILS MERSEYSIDE BUSINESSES HIT WITH HUGE PENALTIES

A MERSEYSIDE property consultant has been hit with a fine of more than £1million after failing to correctly pay over £2.1m in tax.

Kevin Samuel Cole, formerly of Dunes Close, Ainsdale, Southport, defaulted on his taxes over a 10-year period from 2012 to 2022, HM Revenue and Customs said.

He heads a list released by HMRC of people and companies currently or formerly based in Merseyside who made deliberate errors in their tax returns or failed meet their tax obligations and have now been given penalty fines after a probe.

The list also includes:

■John Redfern, company director, formerly of 14 Sterrix Lane, L21. Period of default: April 6 2019 to April 5 2020. Amount of tax: £151,938. Penalty: £106,356.60.
