Farrell admits seeing Lapointe's Dumbarton bid rubber-stamped will feel like a Christmas present
Dumbarton boss Stevie Farrell insists news of the club's takeover will feel like a Christmas present.
The transfer of the Sons to Canadian owner Mario Lapointe is expected to be ratified in the coming days, with the Montreal businessman set to be in West Dunbartonshire this week to meet with fans and stakeholders as the escape from administration is confirmed.
On the pitch, the patchwork Sons had their first outing in the newly re-organised Stirlingshire Cup, taking part in a pair of 60 minute matches against hosts Stenhousemuir and fellow League Two side Stirling Albion.
In an amusing touch, the Dumbarton teamsheet named a squad entirely made up of trialists - but the eagle eyed in the stands could several returning names from last season, as well as some familiar faces hoping to earn a deal.
