Visitors and staff to the Vale of Leven Hospital are being asked to wear face masks as a national surge in flu cases impacts the region.
A report released by Public Health Scotland last week revealed the extent of the flu surge sweeping the country, with confirmed cases doubling to 1,759 in the period from November 24 to 30, while hospital admissions rose by 70 per cent over the same period.
The data also reveals that the flu surge has hit faster and earlier than in recent weeks, with the current case level arriving around two weeks ahead.
