MP WELCOMES ACTION ON PRIVATE ESTATE FEES
GOVERNMENT moves to protect householders on freehold estates from high charges have been welcomed by an MP.
Amanda Hack, MP for North West Leicestershire, said: “Back in March, I cosponsored a 10-minute rule bill on unadopted estates (Housing Estates Bill).
“I’m really pleased that the minister has now announced that two-thirds of the bill’s proposals will be taken forward through consultations on how to reduce the use of private estate management arrangements.”
Residents of freehold estates can risk losing access to their homes, or having to pay a lease, if they begin to accrue debt on charges for the upkeep of private roads, green spaces and utilities.
