People and firms owed £1 million to taxman

FIRMS and individuals from the county were found to owe HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) a total of more than £1 million in unpaid tax last year.

Defaulters also received penalties adding a total of £678,963.03 to their bills HMRC said.

Officials said the details were specific to the dates mentioned, so directors may have changed their behaviour, may no longer be at the published address, or the businesses or premises named may have changed hands.

Amounts in the list relate to the tax and duty on which penalties are based and do not necessarily represent the full default of the taxpayer.

The Leicester and Leicestershire tax defaulters named by HMRC are:
