Young tennis teams impress on county scene

Kent's 8U County Cup Boys and Girls teams were in action at the Bromley Tennis Centre taking on teams from Middlesex, Surrey and Sussex.

It was a great introduction to county tennis for Kent's younger players.

The Kent girls' team, captained by Lucy Morice-Jones, were in outstanding form as they defeated Sussex winning six of the eight singles matches and completed the victory by winning the two doubles matches to win 8-2.

Their next opposition was Surrey. Another impressive performance saw the girls win 9-1, missing out on a clean sweep dropping just one singles match.

Last match of the day was against Middlesex. The girls were in sharp form winning six of the eight singles matches.

With only two doubles match left to play the girls knew they were unbeatable. They won one of the doubles matches, narrowly missing out on the second to complete a 7-3 victory.

Having come through all their matches the girls team were impressive throughout as they secured first place.

The Kent girls' squad was made up of Elise Ellis, Sienna Hopkinson, Harriet Howe, Ava Pollard and Matilda Wang.
