'SCRAP PRELIMS IN FAVOUR OF PROVINCIAL FINAL REPLAYS'

LEINSTER Council chairman Derek Kent has called for the All-Ireland preliminary quarter-finals to be scrapped to make space for provincial final replays.
Kent (right) admitted the province is "perceived as the weaker" in hurling terms but insisted a price cap of €25 for all games represents "good value".
He then referenced the preliminary quarter-finals, which were first introduced in 2018, whereby the Joe McDonagh Cup finalists pair off against third-placed teams in the Munster and Leinster groups.
