Hennelly hits out at board

EX-MAYO goalkeeper Rob Hennelly has blasted the county board for the statement regarding Kevin McStay's exit as boss.

McStay (inset) was 'relieved' of his duties this week following his side's exit at the All-Ireland SFC group stage.

He had stepped back on illness grounds prior to the move, with former county boss Stephen Rochford standing in for the close of their summer run.

The tone of the statement to announce McStay's departure has been widely slammed and Hennelly said: "I'm disappointed but not overly surprised with regards to how it was done.

"It seems very quick in the way they obviously went about it and I was very surprised because Kevin management's team put in massive shifts.
