Modern take on classic icon with eco-friendly twist
THE Renault 4 is back, and it's ready to make waves in the electric era.
During a recent two-day test drive in Portugal, we had the chance to get up close and personal with the new Renault 4 E-Tech electric ahead of its estimated arrival to Ireland in September.
Like the new Renault 5, the 4 is a modern take on the iconic classic that those of a certain vintage “like me” will remember.
Now, the Renault 4 E-Tech is tapping into that legacy, aiming to bring electric mobility to the mainstream while targeting a broader audience, including young families. But how does it stack up in the real world?
Despite being no giant, it's 218mm longer than the new Renault 5, and that extra length transforms the rear seats from a tight squeeze to a genuinely usable space.
For families seeking a compact EV with more room in the back than the Renault 5, the 4 makes a compelling case.
