Family is hit by another tragedy as CF sufferer Ross, 23, dies

Sister pays tribute to ‘amazing’ sibling

A FAMILY already affected by multiple tragedies has been struck by further heartbreaking loss following the death of Ross Calvert, who has died following a battle with cystic fibrosis just days before his 24th birthday.

Ross, of Garryowen, Limerick, was the latest member of the Calvert family to face a lifelong battle with CF, a condition several of his siblings also lived with.

Despite constant medical challenges and long periods spent in hospital, Ross's heartbroken sister Deborah said he remained upbeat and humorous throughout his life.

His death comes just over two years after the tragic loss of his 14-year-old sister Savannah, who was killed on August 16, 2022, after being struck by a car while crossing the road at Bank Place in Limerick City.
