Customers to get full refund after sale gaffe

THE operator of Dublin Airport has apologised after customers were overcharged during car parking “flash sales” - with €350,000 set to be returned.

Earlier this year, during two promotional campaigns - a Holiday Blue Flash Sale in March and a Long Term Car Parking Promotion in May - a “pricing error” occurred, according to daa.

A flat €10 per day rate was applied across all eligible dates, unintentionally overriding lower off-peak prices.

This resulted in overcharges for around 4,500 customers, totalling €25,000 with amounts ranging from €1 to €64 - with 90% of those impacted being overcharged by less than €12, with the average overpayment of approximately €5.90.
