And the challenges don’t come much bigger than losing hurler of the year Shane O'Donnell for the Munster Championship group stages.

O'Donnell could make it back from shoulder surgery for a Munster final, if Clare get there, but equally their summer could be over by then.

“It's obviously a massive blow for us," said the Scarriff club man speaking about O'Donnell’ loss.
