LIVERPOOL legend John Aldridge, like most fans of the club, is glad to see the Alexander Isak saga finally come to an end - and to have the striker at Anfield.

ALDO'S GOT NO WORRRIES ABOUT ISAK CHARACTER

But despite it dragging on almost up to the transfer deadline, and all the negative vibes at the Newcastle end, Aldo feels it was inevitable Liverpool would get their man.

"I say that because of how the whole thing panned out, even if it perhaps took longer than anybody would ideally have wanted," said the former Ireland striker, writing in his column in the Liverpool Echo.

"I do think Newcastle's Saudi Arabian owners weren't clever enough to use their commonsense a bit sooner.

"Isak (right) wanted to leave, and he stood his ground and ended up in a battle with the owners," he said.

There was only ever going to be one winner there, Aldridge reckons.

"Liverpool have known many times in the past when their best players have, for whatever reason, decided they wanted to go.
