It wasn't supposed to be so good at FC

Hull FC woke up on Sunday sitting second in the table, with a seventh successive win on the road to their name. It wasn't supposed to be this good this year.

But here we are, with FC challenged to respond after last week’s cup exit, running out 28-16 victors at Warrington Wolves.

Braces from Tom Briscoe and Davy Litten, with Herman Ese’ese getting over the line once again, set Hull on their way, and that, despite a fired-up second-half performance from the home side, was that.

In a blistering first half, one that saw Hull lead 26-4 at half-time, some of the rugby league on show was excellent. The dominant forwards set the tone with their physicality, and then their shape began to pick Wire apart. Ese’ese was joined by a superb Liam Knight, while Zak Hardaker and Ed Chamberlain got involved playing in the back row, and everything went through John Asiata - who was nothing short of outstanding in the loose forward position.

Asiata, along with Aidan Sezer, provided the structure and the shape to play off. They got the ball wide and to the edges, putting them into space and with time in possession. The likes of Will Pryce and Cade Cust showed their running game strengths, and the likes of Litten their class.

But while the big names starred, the team unit was superb. Everyone did their bit. Structure-wise, the pick of the bunch was Briscoe’s second try which came via a delicious wide Amir Bourouh dummy half pass and then a crisp link from Sezer and Cust whose cut-out pass to his winger, who hogged the touchline, was perfect.
