Man's skull fractured in rammy outside pub

A man suffered a fractured skull and bleeding to his brain after he was assaulted by a fellow drinker outside a Hamilton pub.

The victim fell and struck his head on the pavement, the town’s sheriff court heard on Friday.

Paul Cassidy, 47, of Wellcroft Court, Hamilton, admitted assaulting his victim to his severe injury and the danger of his life.

It happened outside the George Bar in Campbell Street on November 7, 2023.

The Crown accepted that Cassidy, who has no previous convictions, acted under provocation.
