County sees highest increase in house prices

Bridgend has seen the highest annual change in house prices of any local authority

BRIDGEND is one of the areas of Wales where house prices have seen record highs, according to latest research from Principality Building Society.
Its house price index for the first quarter (Q1) of this year shows the average price of a home sold in Wales increased to £238,413, up 2.2% on the previous quarter and 4% higher than the same period last year.
The average price is still below the record high of £239,642 in July 2024. While affordability challenges remain, the steady rise in both prices and the number of transactions - which reached 10,000 in Q1 (up 20% on last year) - suggests buyer confidence is still growing.
