Slide away! Parents cry foul at £200k park plan

The proposed new forest canopy adventure tower The upgrade will also include a new 5m-tall climbing net

Bryngarw Country Park in Bridgend has received the investment from the council to upgrade the play area and make significant changes.

While the park will be kitted out with a new forest canopy adventure tower, a 5m-tall climbing net, new swing set and toddler zone, many parents and residents are upset at the decision to remove the longstanding tower slide.

The accessible play equipment in the play area, including the wheelchair swing, roundabout and trampoline, as well as two more recently-installed multi-play units, basket swing, giant rock and natural play equipment, will all remain.

The area will be temporarily closed for around three months from Monday, January 12, 2026, for work to be carried out on the playground.
