Lifeguards added to beach due to unseen hazards

LIFEGUARDS are set to begin patrols at Budleigh Salterton beach this summer in a move to protect families and water sports enthusiasts from the area’s deceptively dangerous waters.
Starting on Saturday, July 12, and running daily through to Sunday, September 7, two RNLI lifeguards will be on duty from 10am to 6pm, thanks to a joint initiative between East Devon District Council and the RNLI.
The lifeguard hut was craned into place on Thursday, June 26, and will serve as the operational base for the team.
Positioned on the beach, the lifeguards will monitor the designated bathing zone between red and yellow flags and offer guidance on local hazards and sea conditions.
