Army veteran will speedwalk 26 miles for cash-strapped charity

David Barlow will take on the 26-mile challenge from Okehampton to his hometown of Broadclyst on Sunday, May 18, to mark his 78th birthday and support Hospiscare, the local charity facing severe funding difficulties.

Motivated by a regional news report highlighting the financial plight of the charity, David said he wanted “to raise as much money as I possibly can.”

He began his 25-week training regime in November, accompanied by his energetic springer spaniel Tommy.
