Irish dancing in city was perfect recipe for preparing for film role

JACK O'Connell credits his evenings dancing at a Derby Irish bar with helping him get into the role of a singing, dancing, banjo-playing vampire in the hit film Sinners.

Alvaston-born Jack plays Remmick in Ryan Coogler’s horror film, out in cinemas now, and it is his Irish bloodsucker who instigates the violence which dominates the second act of the film.

But it is not just blood which Remmick and his followers have a taste for, as the night-walkers also frequently break into song and dance, something which Jack - whose father was an Irishman who worked for Bombardier - was keen to “dust off” for the film having previously cut a rug at O'Dwyers Irish Bar.
