Try machine Hall glad he swerved career as pilot

HE'S chased down rugby league legends Shaun Edwards, Garry Schofield and Mick Sullivan and now Paul Newlove and even Neil Fox are in his sights.

But Ryan Hall probably isn't even aware. Although he's Super League's greatest-ever try scorer, and no one has scored more for England, the prolific Leeds winger has never been that fussed about the records he burns through.

His score at Castleford last weekend took him to 343 career tries - 19th in Britain's all-time list - nudging him past Hall of Famer Sullivan, who amassed the bulk of his in the 1950s for Huddersfield and Wigan.

It's strange to think Hall, 37, almost didn't play professionally.

Does he ever think about that Sliding Doors moment and what could have been if Rhinos hadn’t picked him up late doors as a 17-year-old playing for Leeds amateurs Oulton Raiders?
