THE blue half of Manchester secured the three points and the bragging rights as they demolished their local rivals.

City made a rapid start to the contest but were unable to find a breakthrough as United slowly found a foothold in the game.

The deadlock was finally broken on 26 minutes with Khadija Shaw nodding Lauren Hemp's delivery across for Rebecca Knaak to head home.
