Yet revenues rise to almost £4bn following takeover
ROYAL Mail handled more than 300 million fewer letters in the six months to September, after a 10 per cent year-on-year slump.
The drop - to just under 2.8 billion - was far worse than the four per cent fall in the year to March. Letter volumes peaked at 20 billion in 2004 and have been in steady decline since.
