CALLS for a new search for the body of a schoolgirl murdered nearly 70 years ago have been welcomed amid claims she may be buried in a mineshaft.

Sandra Brown believes her dad Alexander Gartshore murdered 11-year-old Moira Anderson in 1957.

She has been made aware of fresh information on where her body was dumped.

The details have been passed to police, claims Sandra, by an associate of Gartshore's fellow suspect, James Gallogley.

Bus driver Gartshore and church elder Gallogley are both now dead but are strongly suspected of involvement in Moira’s murder in Coatbridge.

According to Sandra, the new informant has revealed that Moira’s body was placed in a disused mineshaft in the Blairhill area of Coatbridge.

Sandra, who first accused her dad of Moira's murder in her book Where There is Evil, said: "There are public records and these show that only a very small number of the shafts were accessible.
