People almost blinded as more than 900 complaints made

BOTOX bandits who nearly blinded Scots were among more than 900 cosmetics complaints reported to a consumer watchdog.

Horror cases revealed by Advice Direct Scotland include a woman who was left with eye damage and another unable to drive after being injected by rogue practitioners.

The charity issued a warning yesterday after being hit with 901 beauty and cosmetic cases in just two years.

It has dealt with 289 complaints about beauty treatments, such as fillers and laser hair removal, 155 about cosmetic services including fat dissolving injections, and 12 involving hair replacement.

Hazel Knowles, consumer project lead at Advice Direct Scotland, said: "These cases highlight concerns about unregulated and unsafe practices across Scotland's beauty sector.
