Too often toxic ideas are taking hold early and going unchallenged. This government is stepping in sooner...

LABOUR is today unveiling a £20million plan to tackle toxic misogyny in schools as part of the biggest clampdown on violence against women in British history.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the package will educate boys and young men and help deliver "a responsibility we owe the next generation".

It is one of the measures in the government's longawaited violence against women and girls strategy, being published today.

Alarming data shows nearly 40% of teenagers in relationships have suffered abuse. And a survey of school leaders found 70% of secondary schools had dealt with sexual violence or harassment against a child by another pupil this academic year.

The PM said: "Every parent should be able to trust that their daughter is safe at school, online and in her relationships. But too often toxic ideas are taking hold early and going unchallenged.
