Blood test insights on Alzheimer's biomarkers

ALZHEIMER'S disease is more widespread in people over the age of 85 than previously thought, a first-of-its-kind study suggests.

Scientists used a simple blood test to check biomarkers linked to the development of dementia.

The study found more than one in 10 people over the age of 70 would meet the criteria for drugs that can slow down the early stages of Alzheimer's.

Experts said the disease is a global challenge and it is "vital we are able to detect signs at the earliest possible stages".
