Goblet 'has the oldest depictions of creation'

A SILVER goblet made 4,300 years ago is engraved with the world's earliest image of the creation of the universe, academics have claimed.

The 8cm tall Ain Amiya Goblet was found near Ramallah in Palestine’s West Bank area in 1970.

Its two hammered relief scenes show snakes, chimeras, deities, and celestial symbols.

Dating to around 2200 BC, it had been linked to the warring-gods Babylonian creation myths of a millennium later.
