IN the extremely likely event you had not noticed, there is a professional snooker tournament in Saudi Arabia this week.
The only reason you might know the Riyadh Season Championship is taking place is that it has a gimmick.
And being Saudi, it is a gimmick solely created by financial obscenity.
You know, the sort of financial obscenity that deems £4.6million is not enough to reward Jannik Sinner for turning up and winning a few games at an exhibition knock-up, but that he also deserves to be given a solid gold tennis racket. Like he needs one.
In the snooker tournament in Riyadh this week, there is a golden ball apparently worth 20 points on the bottom cushion. If one of the players makes a maximum break and then pots it, he wins $1million.
Ahead of the event, the players were asked about the golden ball jackpot.
