Kyle: I was empathetic to 'suicide risk' guest
Daily Express
|September 06, 2024
TV presenter Jeremy Kyle told a vulnerable chat show guest who went on to take his own life that he should "grow a pair" and "be a man" after a lie detector test concluded he had cheated on his fiancee.
Steve Dymond, 63, was found dead seven days later in May 2019.
Kyle, 59, was accused of "throwing Mr Dymond under a bus" and "egging on" the audience to boo at him as the on-air result concluded he had been unfaithful to Jane Callaghan.
But giving evidence at Mr Dymond's inquest, the star yesterday insisted his presenting style while "direct" had also been "empathetic".
Following the death, ITV's Jeremy Kyle Show was cancelled without the episode being broadcast but Winchester Coroner's Court was shown clips of Kyle telling the guest: "Be a man, grow a pair of b***s and tell her the goddam truth."
