During heated debates, I've discovered the best place to go is somewhere else, and that location is our newly acquired garage, which offers shelter from the storm.

It wasn’t well-appointed, but I now had a deck chair, a workbench, and would happily attempt to fix broken bike bits, which I knew I'd have to replace anyway, rendering the whole process a waste of time, but at least I couldn't hear the shouting.

“You wanted to go, you like singing," I heard, as I put my slippers on to shuffle out of the family home.
